By choosing a drama activity teachers are encouraging pupils to speak, listen, observe, reflect, pay more attention to pronunciation and intonation and practise language within a natural and creative context.
Drama can help pupils overcome their inhibitions when it comes to speaking a foreign language, it can help them choose the right gestures and body language to accompany what they're saying, and it's the perfect opportunity to work on intonation and expression, which is often the key to getting any message across. Drama activities can also take the form of written work.
Drama activities bring the subject matter off the paper and turn the learning process into a three dimensional experience, making real learning takes place.
The depth of the drama experience helps transfer information to the long-term memory, and your pupils will love it, so turn the reading in the textbook (of English, Science ...) into some drama activity.
I have done a planning guideline document for a drama lesson plan.
